Sydney's Baptism

I know, I know, it's been a while since we last posted. Twins and a newborn make life a little busy. Not sure if I'll be able to catch up like I want to (with photos and all), but suffice it to say that in addition to the twins (who are now a little over 2 yrs old, we have their baby brother (whom we call Jake), who is 9 months old.

Also, Sydney went and did it...she recently turned 8 yrs old. It was bound to happen and it did. Of course, she thinks she's 16 yrs old, not 8! :-) We had a good turn out to her baptism. The Ivey's from Albuquerque were able to be there; the Parham's, both sets of grandpas and grandmas; the Fallows (all of them) and the Scoresby's all made it - thank you to all for coming! Bishop Jones conducted; Audrey Ridgway played the piano and Gail Richards led the signing. We are very grateful for those who were able to attend and we know Sydney is too. Here are a couple of photos from Sydney's baptism...

Happy Birthday Sydney!

Our little princess is growing up so fast. Sydney is a big 6 yr old, now. She can tie her shoes and count by 2's - "hey, it's Sydney, comin' over to our house..." She's loving Kindergarten and has the best teacher ever - Ms. Witthus. Her friends are Hailey, Claire, Monique & Monica, and Liesel (and several boys that she wants everyone to understand are ONLY friends - Gabe, Rafe, and Ethan. Sydney enjoys playing soccer, listening to music, being outside, going to school to see her friends and shopping of course. This year for Syd's party she wanted a "Rockband Party". We had her party on Friday evening. It was a blast! Friends came to the house to play rockband, we had pizza, presents, and cupcakes. Aunt Dee also came up from Tucson. She spent the night and we had "girls day out" on Saturday. We went to Target and the mall where Aunt Dee proceeded to take Syd on a shopping spree. We also went to lunch at the Cheesecake Factory ( Syd's request of course). What a great time we had. Later on Saturday we went next door to the Parham's to celebrate some more with Chamberlyn. She has the same birthday as Sydney. So It was a weekend of non-stop parting. What a blast!

Twins Update

The babies are almost 2 months old and we thought we would update their pictures. They now have cheeks and butts (instead of baggy skin). They are around 8 lbs, now. We are still waiting for them to sleep more than 3 hrs at a time - wishful thinking!

Happy New Year!

This New Year's Eve, our good friends, the Iveys, came to visit. They drove through the snow and ice to the valley of the sun. We're pretty sure they would make the trip from Albuquerque just to see us, but we're certain they really came to see the twins! Whatever works to get them here... :-) We now owe them another trip to Albuquerque - Iveys 2, Ridgways 1.

Our plans were simple - celebrate Sydney's and Ethan's January birthdays and play, play, play. I think we accomplished it!

Heather and I found some time to get a few games in...and a "few" snacks were consumed during game-play (the most important part). Must have snacking items are: Reeses Pieces, Swedish Fish, and Cheez-Its (all other snacks are welcome, but these three are essential).

Favorite games played are 10 dice, Sequence, and "Golf" (the card game). Of course, I ALWAYS win! :-) We also found time to shop, have manicures/pedicures (while Nathan took all 7 kids to Makutu's Island - go Nathan!), we also went on a double date with our husbands, and did a little cooking. We decided to go out on a limb and make some Southwest Egg Rolls. I must say they were delish! I'd love have them again, but it wouldn't be as fun making them by myself. :-(

We all had a great time. We were sad to see them leave, but look forward to many more adventures!

Merry Christmas

This year Christmas was very different. With twins in the house it really made me put my priorities in order for Christmas. The babies came on Dec. 15th and that meant that there was very little time left for more shopping or much of anything. I really think it help set a better spirit for Christmas in our home. We were forced to slow down and really prioritize. In hind sight, I was so thankful that almost everything was already wrapped and I amazingly had already done some baking for friends and neighbors Slowing down was really nice. As tired as we have been taking care of 5 children it is very rewarding.

Sweet Babies!

I know I should be in bed, but I just wanted to get an initial blog up about these two sweet twin babies we are blessed to have in our home - Daniella & Jose. They are 13 days old and weighed around 4 pounds at birth, but they are doing great and now weigh 5 lbs (Daniella) and 5 1/2 lbs (Jose). They were brought straight from the hospital to us. Though we do not know how long we will have them, we are enjoying each day with them. It really makes me think how little time we actually have with our children and how we should make sure our children know how much we love them. Thank you to all who have helped us as we adjust to life with twins - you have given your time, clothing, car seats, etc and most of all your support. We thank you!

Anyway, enough of the mushy stuff - I'm sure we'll be adding more to the blog, but for now I need some sleep...
